Things
are really looking up for Nollywood veteran actress, Joke Silva as she
has added yet another feather to her cap. She was recently appointed
as the Managing Director of Nollywood Movie Studio otherwise known as
Malete Film Village, which is owned by Kwara State University.
A statement by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, ‘Joke Silva who is a seasoned actress and a world class film director, will be the face and image of the Malete Film Village for some time to come’.
The eloquent actress while accepting the new appointment, said, she would be building a movie studio in the school from scratch. Saddled with the responsibility of training people who love acting profession, she has since started work.
“I would be building a movie studio from scratch and making it viable. More importantly, it is supposed to be an underpinning for Nollywood where the skills that are necessary to sustain Nollywood will be taught. It is to train those who have decided to take a profession in the film industry and the various skills that are involved in the industry’.
The Malete Film Village is an independent venture established by the Kwara State University to produce films and also train film actors, actresses and other experts for Nollywood; the Nigerian film industry and for the entire African film industry. Interestingly, Joke Silva’s appointment marks a new dawn for the industry.
